During WWII, the government was using copper to make ammunition for the war and for communication. This is the only year they used steel for pennies. These pennies are such a neat part of American history! My boyfriend likes to wear this year because of the history.

This iconic image of a palmetto tree and crescent moon is widely known as the symbol of South Carolina. It is widely represented in the Charleston City Market. I begin with raw copper. Multiple layers of powdered glass are melted onto the copper when fired in my kiln at 1500 degrees F. Available in lots of different colors. Leather cord included.
